One Tagaytay Place Hotel

Solace. Clean Air. Temperatures below 25 degrees. Space. Nature.

Everyday, literally 1000s of people are immersed in the chaos and madness of Manila city living. We tolerate sitting in hours of traffic and living in areas where pollution so thick that we don’t even notice it anymore. Don’t forget to mention the heat that requires you to shower twice a day or change your shirt multiple times a day while carrying an emergency stick of deodorant with you at all times. It’s funny how so many of us get lost in the busyness of life.

(insert pictures)

It is because of all those reasons above, that 100s of people seek to take a break in the cool clean air of Tagaytay. The area is so beautiful and precious that some even go up for just a day trip as it’s only situated about 1.5 hours south of Manila. It’s the perfect refuge away from this urban jungle that most of us call home.

What many of us don’t realize is that there are beautiful and comfortable, locations to stay in that are affordable in Tagaytay allowing each of us to really take a break. You need a night away. One day sitting in the car back and forth won’t really help us, will it?

(insert pictures)

We have found the perfect little hideaway called One Tagaytay Place Hotel Suites. Comfort, service and excellent food can be found here. The hotel offers clean accommodations with a variety of different rooms types to fit your desired needs. Whether you are traveling with on your own, with a loved one, with your kids or friends, this is the spot to be.

Each room offers soft, yet supportive mattresses and pillows to welcome their guests. If you need a special request, you can easily call down to the front desk for fast service. The rooms are complete with free wi-fi access, LCD TVs, cable TV and a minibar. Within the facilities of the hotel, there is a restaurant boasting unique fusions of International and Local Cuisines created by Chef Luigi Mulach at their Amacena Restaurant. Also, you can relax by the pool overlooking amazing views. Tranquility at it’s best.

Is The Goal Not Really The Hole?

Question…

How many of the goals you set at the beginning of the year have you met?

With four full months left to play, we’re just a bit past the halfway point in the golfing season. Did you really improve your game?

If not, a more important question would be, did you set the right goals for yourself?

In the years that I’ve been around golf, I’ve heard of many kinds of goals coming from recreational players all the way up to professional golfers. I can assure you that 95% of the time, the goals I’ve heard were all of the same nature.

I want to break 100 (or 90, or 80, or 70…)
I want to avoid 3-putts.
I want to lower my handicap by (insert the number of strokes here) strokes.
I want to hit my driver 250 yards.
I want to win Class B in my next tournament.
I want to make the cut.
I want a top-10 finish.

While the goals above seem quite varied, you will notice that they all focus on one thing: results.

In sport psychology, we call these outcome goals. The big problem with outcome goals is that you have no direct control over them.

Simply put, you just can’t predict winning championships. If this were the right way, then we all would be hoisting the Claret Jug by now. And if you think you can predict all these results, then you’re just setting yourself up for major disappointment (and probably a bad case of low self-esteem after your round).

Think about the nuances of golf for a moment– even if you hit the perfect shot, you can’t control which direction the ball kicks (or the direction that that low-hanging branch kicks it to). Think Ernie Els 6-putting at the 1st hole of this year’s Masters or Jordan Spieth shanking to the water of the 12th in that same event, and you’ll realize that golf is cruel that way, and that focusing on results will only rub the proverbial salt deeper into your wounds.

That’s why the right kind of goals to set are process goals, not outcome goals.

Let me be clear– golf is still a sport that you still want to win (we all do!). We also want to achieve all the usual good results that have defined success in this game. But the key to attaining these results is in the process.

In short, focus on the little steps you need to take, the specific actions and behaviors that will allow you to execute a particular shot with consistency and the desired quality. Then, and only then, will the results come.

Let’s choose the dreaded “avoid the 3 putts” scenario I mentioned earlier to illustrate how my concept applies.

First thing you’d naturally want to think of is your putting process. Instead of saying, I’ll try to hole it out with 1 putt, or putt it close to get a tap-in and ensure the 2-putt, you’re better off asking yourself, what are the important parts of my entire putting process that gives me a 2-putt at worst?

It could be your grip, your stance, your timing, or the way you’re rolling the ball. Whatever it is that you’ve identified is what you should break down into little steps. If it’s your timing, then maybe you’d want to take 10 putts using your ideal timing and then (now this is the crucial part) TRACK those 10 putts.

Score yourself.

Out of those 10 putts, how many times were you able to use your ideal timing? The higher percentage you score every time, the higher the chances of you avoiding the dreaded 3-putt situation.

In the same scenario, you can also focus on your chipping and pitching to get your short game on point so that you don’t need to stress a lot about your actual putting.

If you can throw darts at the hole from under 120 yards so that all you’re left is a tap-in, then that should also help you avoid 3-putting.

Go ahead and break your short game down—can you go through your mental routine in at least 8 out of 10 pitches when you’re on the range? Are you correctly following your swing sequence in 15 out of 20 shots? Are you aware of your breathing in each of your shots?

Four months left in the year, four months of golf to play.

The more you focus and work on attaining process goals, the more easily your desired results will follow. As more of your desired results happen, then the more you start enjoying the game.

BRAFE 11 Golf – Golfing For Education Since 2006

BRAFE logoAmong the hundreds of golf groups and organizations that exist, not many others have gained the great admiration that BRAFE Golf  successfully has in the 11 prolific years of their existence.

A group selfless and compassionate golfers stand as BRAFE’s core group, who together, continue with their ongoing goal of organizing a highly coveted Philippine tournament once every year. BRAFE’s annual golf cup is no ordinary tournament, but is a special event solely dedicated to Golfing for Education.

BRAFE core
BRAFE 6

Irrevocable Passion and Purpose

There is only one motive that keeps BRAFE flourishing – their undying passion to support underprivileged students who are hungry to learn, but are not financially capable of obtaining proper education.

BRAFE is inspiringly committed to investing in the lives of the intellectually gifted youth who deserve the precious gift of not only studying, but going on to be successful future leaders of our nation. Each young student whose lives they touch are scholars of the Foundation for Sharing La Sallian Education.

FSLE scholars 2

A Beginning Unlike Any Other

Where did this passion arise and what keeps them going? It all started with a man eager to make a difference. The late Brother Rafael S. Donato, who was fondly referred to as Brafe, was a generous man on many missions. Among his great accomplishments include:

  • Dedicating 50 years of his life to become a De La Salle Brother
  • Becoming the first Filipino Director of De La Salle Lipa
  • First Filipino president of La Salle Greenhills
  • First Filipino president of La Salle Bacolod
  • Receiving a Certificate of Advanced Studies from Harvard University
  • Earning his Doctor of Education Degree in Administration, Planning and Social Policy
  • Becoming a British Council Fellow for Peace Studies at Bradford University

Brother Rafael’s major achievement that has greatly impacted the lives of many was becoming the founder of the Foundation for Sharing La Sallian Education Inc. (FSLE) in 1956 along with his classmates. It is a non-stock profit organization that aims to provide fully covered La Sallian education at De La Salle Lipa. They are careful to handpick their scholars as they only grant this gift to top ranking national high school graduates in Batangas.

Screen Shot 2016-08-21 at 1.35.59 PM
On his 50th anniversary as a De La Salle brother, a grand celebration was staged for him- the very first Brafe Golf Tournament. They spent an afternoon on the golf course and an enjoyable evening over dinner and a dance. It was their first fundraising golf tournament for sharing a La Sallian Education, but little did they know that it would be their last with Brother Rafael present.

A Lasting Legacy

Sadly, his life was taken just weeks after the celebration while swimming off the shores of Morong, Bataan. Though his close friends and family longed to see more days with him, they knew that no moment of his life on earth went to waste.

In honor of Brother Rafael and his purpose, the BRAFE core group continued the project. Just last year, they hit a milestone by reaching a full decade of Golfing for Education at the BRAFE 10 Golf Cup.

BRAFE 2
In the last 10 prosperous years, they have sent a total of 135 FSLE scholars through the University program. Through their education, the majority of the FSLE scholoars are now pursuing their dreams of becoming business professionals and productive citizens of our nation.

FSLE scholars
With the incredible drive of just one man, hundreds of lives have been changed, and many more will continue to be changed. What made Brother Rafael so driven to offer education to those who can’t afford it? He himself earned a degree as a scholar. What benefitted him as a student, he has also passed on.

With Excellence Comes Success

The annual BRAFE Golf cup takes golf seriously and is very strict in how they enforce the tournament, making the challenge more enjoyable for all players. With a championship division and very competitive standards, they have earned a reputation of excellence.
BRAFE 1

BRAFE 4

Reaching 230 players, plus many other interested players that are put on a waiting list, the BRAFE tournament has outgrown the Mount Malarayat Golf course where it has been held in the last 10 years. This good problem makes this year’s tournament the first to be on the turf of Eagle Ridge Golf & Country Club where they expect 350 to join them in golfing for education.

100% of the proceeds earned in each tournament go directly to Foundation for Sharing LaSallian Education.

The core group also selflessly volunteers their time and effort to put out the tournament and sponsors write checks directly to the foundation. So then what exactly does the Brafe organization get out of it? Nothing but the sheer joy of getting to help send potential public high students to DLSU Lipa.

University of Leaders

JCI Manila is a leadership organization of young entrepreneurs that have a passion to make a difference in society. Dubbed as the University of Leaders, JCI Manila believes that through reaching out to others, acting selflessly and giving back to the community will you really learn about yourself.

Help us in our fund raising event by joining in our golf tournament to fund our talks and medical missions.

The Chokoys – Nobody Should Golf Alone

Are you a part of a social golf group and would like to be featured? Hit us up, we would love to interview you. Feel free to contact us at admin@golfph.com

IMG_1052

Who Are The Chokoys?

Just like many other golf groups, the Chokoys are a group of men and women who love golfing and want to play alongside people that love it too.

This versatile group is made up successful business people and passionate golfers from 25 years old all the way to 58! From 6 pioneering members, the Chokoys have grown to almost 60 in just a span of a few years.

IMG_0718

What Is Their Purpose?

The Chokoys live by their very own mantra, Nobody Should Play Alone. For them, it is more important to make sure that their fellow golfers are having the most of FUN – while improving their game is important, but secondary.

IMG_1158

Unlike other groups who only wait for applications, the Chokoys step their own foot out by approaching single golfers and asking them to join their flight. What’s the qualification they look for? A chocobeam or a butterfly shot! Once the golfer’s skill is proven, they’re invited to join the Chokoys’ socials. Lastly if they’re fun to be with, they get a lucky spot on the team.

They exist to make golf as it should be- thoroughly enjoyed by all!

IMG_1191

IMG_1166

How Long Have They Existed?

The Chokoys started as a team of just 6 people recently in 2013.

What Keeps Them Successful?

The members of this team know that the diversity among their personalities always leads to different opinions and contradicting viewpoints, but what keeps them successful as a group is staying focused on the goal of simply enjoying their favorite sport with new friends, old friends, and always staying open to meeting future ones.

IMG_1192

IMG_1171

Why Would Golfers Want To Join?

In the words of Chad, a Chokoy himself…

“Friendly banter, sometimes serious competition and the occassional road/field trips are just some of the things anyone who joins us will come to expect, and if playing once or twice a week is not enough, any emergency golf game any day of the week will never be a lonely one, just post a message on our viber group and someone will surely join you.”

The assurance of never having to golf alone is enough reason for any golfer to want to be on of them!

IMG_1169

What Makes Its Members Special?

There are several factors that set these members apart from the rest. From fresh beginners to single handicappers, what they desire most is having fun playing golf- together.

IMG_1092

Who do they consider the biggest winners? Raffle winners! When there’s an occasional trophy winner, they get bragging rights but for no longer than two hours.

How Can I Join The Club?

Interested in joining? Simply seek them out at the Aguinaldo Golf Club every Tuesday and Friday after lunch. Come along as it is free for everyone to join.

If you really want to be a part of the Chokoys, contact Kap at 0939-925-4325

GolfPH Par-tee at the Greens 2016

Our 5th Annual “Par-tee at the Greens” is now over, but we are all still flying high from such a fun and successful event. We could not have done it without you all, so let us first start by saying a resounding THANK YOU from the GolfPH Team! For those of you who missed it, our tournament was held at the prestigious Wack Wack Golf & Country Club on September 30, 2016.

Wack Wack Golf Country Club

For us, it wasn’t just about the golf. For many of us, it was our first time serving all of you at this tournament. The memories made were amazing and we got to meet so many of our members that we interact with usually on email or text. It was such a privilege to be a part of this event and we hope that every one of you left happy and relaxed.

GOLFPH Players

We wanted to share with those of you who may have missed the event. The Par-tee at the Greens was SOLD OUT. 143 Players. 36 Flights. We are really sorry to all of you that couldn’t play, but next year we are looking for a bigger venue. Look out for the announcement on where it will be and make sure to sign up early!

Let us first start out by asking you guys a question…where were you at 5AM? The reason we ask is because although registration opened at 6:30AM, our team assembled bright and early at 5AM in the clubhouse. There was so much to do and although we were tired, we were pumped to get the partee started. It takes months to plan a tournament and the day was finally here.

GolfPH Registration Area

Although, registration opened at 6:30AM, we weren’t the only ones excited. There were a few golfers that showed up early. Maybe they were as excited as us or maybe they just wanted to make sure they got a cart… 😉

GolfPH Assembly

One by one, players coming from different locations throughout the Metro area started to arrive. Registration went smoothly even though there were slight delays due to another tournament being planned on the same day and a limited number of available carts. Thank you to all of our golfers who graciously walked without complaining throughout all 18 holes.

GolfPH Registration and Breakfast

Each registered player received a goody bag filled with items courtesy of our event sponsors. In addition to that, a free plate of ham provided by The Plaza was served to any interested player. Thank you to them for their generosity and to the golfers who patiently waited for the 8AM shotgun tee off.

GolfPH Breakfast

It was so much fun getting to meet such a diverse group of golfers. We had members, non-members, businessmen, businesswomen, other professionals, CEOs, sales people, locals, expats and so many others that we can’t even name them all. Prior to that day, we were all also a bit nervous because of the stormy weather we were experiencing, but through thankfully we received beautiful sunshine overlooking the well-manicured greens at Wack Wack.

GolfPH Fairway and Golfers

The weather holding out was especially important considering that the round lasted about 6 hours! Much longer than expected, but everyone still had a great time. Players started submitting their scorecards just past 2 in the afternoon, and we were able to start the program shortly thereafter. The running joke as players came into the banquet hall was that they didn’t expect to get so much exercise in that day! That’s’ what happens when the course runs out of carts!

GolfPH Fairway and Golfers 2

Even though everyone finished at different times, the wait for those finished went unnoticed. It was a great time to network, meet new golfers and get in early at the buffet!

GolfPH Function Room

GolfPH Buffet

The program started off with free flowing drinks courtesy of our event drink sponsor Dewar’s and Bear Beer. Due to their generosity, we were able to spoil our golfers with premium Dewars 12 year old whiskey and free flowing Imported Beer all day long. It was truly a standout part of the program and surely made the day a lot more fun.

GolfPH Dewar's

Instead of waiting until the end, the raffle winners were announced throughout the reception. The grand prize, which was a 43-inch flat screen TV was snagged by GolfPH member, Conny Dolonius.

GolfPH Raffle Winners

Our PGA Golf Pro Dan Sais, announced the award winners for the tournament.

  • Overall Flight Champion: Pablo Olivarez, Mithor Singson, Brixton Aw, and Juvan Esplana.

Dustin Johnson

In November 2016, the Philippines will host #2 Ranked Golfer Dustin John vs golf pro champion, Rory McIllroy. This much anticipated event launches the opening of the country’s newest golf course, Pradera Golf & Country Club. This event is not just one that attracts golfers nationwide, but also those who seek to experience viewing the “Dustin vs Rory: Battle for a Cause.”

Pradera Golf Course is located among-st the open fields of Lubao, Pampanga. It boasts it’s own hotel and will also consist of resort like activities set to open in December of this year. This match up may come as a bit of a surprise for those following the event due to the previous advertisement of the match up being between well-known Filipino-Australian PGA golfer, Jason Day. Unfortunately, due to a recent back injury, Jason Day will no longer be able to compete for the cause.

American golfer, Dustin Johnson, is currently ranked No. 2 in the world and is the reigning US Open Champion and was a part of the US Contingent that won the Ryder Cup for the first time since 2008. In a brief interview statement, the 32-year-old Johnson states:

“I am very excited for this match and honored to be invited to play for charity. With Jason, the hometown favorite in this match, I am happy to replace him.”

Golfer Dustin Johnson

Johnson recently earned his first PGA of America Player of the Year Award ad the Vardon Trophy presented by the PGA of America for Excellence as a PGA Tour Professional. As reigning, US Open Champion, he has collected 90 points this year, while Day finished with 74 overall. Each golfer is a three-time season winner this year.

On the opposing side is no 3 ranked, Rory McIlroy, who has shared likewise approval for this match up in a recent press interview stating:

“I’m sorry Jason can’t make it to the Philippines this time, but delighted Dustin’s stepping in for a very worthy cause and what promises to be a great head-to-head match.”

We at GolfPH could not agree more. On this rare occasion, the Philippines is honored to host a match up between the No 2 and No 3 golfers in the world. In 2007, when we first opened the company, we never would have though the Philippines would attract such amazing talent in golf.

World's #2 Golfer Dustin Johnson set to replace Jason Day in PH Exhibition Match

Jason Day has responded in kind with a brief statement below:

“I’m glad Dustin accepted to take my place in the exhibition match. I’m also very happy that the event is pushing through for the Filipino golf fans, ” and he followed up his statement assuring the Philippines that there will be a visit in 2017!

Dustin vs Rory is the biggest professional golf event in the Philippine golf history since Tiger Woods placed at Mimosa in January 1998.

Information about tickets, pricing and accommodations will be released soon. Please look out for our email with notifications about the event. We look forward to seeing you there!

55 Golf Gifts You Can Give This Christmas

55-golf-gifts-you-can-give-this-christmas

Although we like the holidays, we also dislike the madness that comes with it. Traffic. Tons of people everywhere. The lines. Circling the mall parking lot until you are forced to find out that there is a basement level 5 with one spot left waiting for you.

Sometimes we wonder, why do we even bother with Christmas shopping!

We’ve all been there.

In spite of all those things and no matter what we know is about to happen, the holidays are still the best. Giving gifts brings joy not just to the person receiving it, but it makes us feel good inside too. So, since we know you all have to buy things for your golfer-loved-ones (including yourself), we compiled a huge list of things you’ll want to take note of.

There are 55 Gift Ideas this year and it is our biggest Holiday Gift Guide yet.

We split them into 8 categories, so that you can find the one that fits your budget and your golfer with ease. Below are just a few of the items featured in this year’s Holiday Gift Guide.

Because of the size of this year’s list, we decided to convert the whole blog post into a PDF just to make it easier to read.

Click Here to get the full version, we will send it to you through email: The Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide For Golfers/

The list is comprised of the most sought-after, favored, and of course still practical Christmas gifts that we’re certain any golf fanatic – including you – would love to both give or receive.

This holiday season, spend less time stressing over what to buy and more time enjoying the most wonderful time of the year. Choose gifts from our Holiday Gift Guide made just for you and you may not even have to leave your comfy couch to get them. 😉

THE BEST GOLF STOCKING STUFFER UNDER PHP1000: THE GOLF CLUB VIDEO GAME

the-golf-club-video-game

Seriously, most stocking stuffers or gifts under PHP1000 are lame, but we all want them. We all need them. Generally they aren’t really that useful or they end up being tossed somewhere in a corner. This isn’t one of them.

You can use this gift over and over again. It can also be used by someone who doesn’t even know how to play golf in real life.

EA Sports has done something different that no other previous golf video game has done.

While others have lacked customization, good commentary and details on the courses themselves, The Golf Club does not. This game is for people who really love golf. It is more about appropriating the feel of the sport rather than dressing it up with good looks or flashy gimmicks.

There’s no swing timer to insure that if you click the button at just the right moment, you will hit 250 yards. There’s no virtual caddy to tell you which iron to use, nor aftertouch spin controls to correct a misplaced shot. This is all about you and your knowledge out on the course. The basics you will receive on each hole start is the wind direction, distance to the pin and the elevation of the cup. It’s up to you to read your own greens, your own ball lie and know just how much power to use based on your own experience on the course.

What is it? It’s a golf video game.
Who is it for? People who know how to golf.
Who is not for? It’s challenging, but it suits anyone that actually plays golf.
Where can I buy it? Pick up a copy of this EA Sports Game at any Data Blitz Store (call first to reserve it) for PHP995.

You will keep coming back to this game unlike any other golf video game due to the sheer amount of courses and the challenging aspect of the game, which you can easily apply to real life. You will just need to also have a PS4, XBox One or a PC to run this game. 🙂

THE VERY BEST GOLF EQUIPMENT GIFT: MIZUNO JPX-900 FORGED IRONS

mizuno-jpx-900-forged-irons

Alright, so this may get you a little curious on why we chose a forged iron set to promote as the very best golf equipment for this holiday season. I’m sure that you probably may even want to dispute this suggestion merely because you aren’t a fan of Mizuno, but let me tell you why.

Let me first tell you what it means to have a “forged” irons. 90% of all golf clubs are made of casting, which involves pouring molten metal into a mold to produce a golf club. This allows the manufacturers to be creative in how they make their club heads and where to put the weight in the head. A forged head or forging involves taking a piece of soft steel and stamping or beating it into shape. This means that the steel is softer giving what some players say a better “feel.” It’s definitely more labor intensive, which means pricier.

A forged iron allows you as a golfer to “feel” when you hit off-center, which helps you achieve the maximum distance and desired trajectory. Forged irons also have more weight in the center of the club. As a result, better players who hit the the sweet spot more often will maintain a lot more consistency in their shot compared to cavity back irons where the weight is dispersed.

The Mizuno JPX900 Forged irons have been dubbed by many golf enthusiasts and reputable reviewers as “standout irons” over the last two years. One of the main reasons why is because of the Boron steel that they introduced into their forged irons 2 years ago. Basically Boron steel is 30% stronger, which allows Mizuno to create a thinner face, that is more durable with longer lasting grooves.

I could go on and on about these clubs, but that’s not what this post is all about. I recommend you check out a few other product reviews online if you are interested.

Who is it for? Golfers who understand what “feel” means.
Who is not for? Probably not appropriate for golfers just starting out. Not because they aren’t great clubs, but generally you want to start out with a “beater” set that you hack away with first. One at a lower price point, but if you want to skip to one of the best, then this is your set!
Where can I buy it? Any Mizuno Retailers (Retails here for PHP64,995, but keep your eyes open for those Christmas Sales)

THE ULTIMATE BEST GOLF GIFT: ARCCOS 360 TRACKING SYSTEM

arccos-360-tracking-system

Seriously, this really is the ultimate best golf gift out there in my opinion (as well as many others out there heehee). Arccos Golf has been around for awhile now and they produce tech items for golfers that use sensors that attach to each club. These sensors track every shot you hit and then give you your stats. Not just any stats, but tour level stats. This is for every round.

It will tell you exactly how many fairways you hit, the average distance to the pin on your shots and how far you hit with each club! It tells you ALL of that.

PLUS it’s now half the price of what it originally launched, so now it is definitely worth buying.

The problem is… they don’t sell them locally in the Philippines.

However, you’re in luck for 2 reasons.

The first is that it’s pretty easy to ship things directly from Amazon to the Philippines now with Amazon Global Shipping.

The second is the Philippines government just implemented a no “customs taxes” law for purchases under PHP 10,000. Even if your package is a bit over, taxes have been reduced so shipping things over has gotten a lot easier.

Who is it for? Someone golfs at least a few times a month and someone who actually wants to know how well they are doing. You literally get stats for every hole and every shot of every round that you play.
Who is it not for? It’s really easy to use, but I guess I wouldn’t recommend it for someone who doesn’t know how to use technology at all or doesn’t care to in reference to their game.
Where to buy it? You can’t buy it here, but you can have it shipped here with ease by using Amazon Global Shipping. Also, the government here just implemented a no “customs taxes” on purchases under 10,000PHP.

$249 + $110 for Shipping and Taxes
Here’s the amazon link here.

THE BEST TO-GO GOLF ACCESSORY: PORTABLE ANDUX GOLF POWER HITTING BAG

portable-andux-golf-power-hitting-bag

You are either looking at this list because you are a golfer and would like to buy yourself a gift or you are buying a gift for a golfer that you know. Before I got into golf, I used to watch my dad as he transitioned from what he used to call “an older man’s game.” Everywhere we went, he would take practice swings, holding an imaginary golf club. He would check himself out in the reflection of the glass of the mall stores. That’s when I first realized how important practicing is to a golfer. It’s so important, that it needs to be done EVERYWHERE and ANYWHERE.

That’s why this is the best “to-go” gift. It’s not a boring one like a water bottle or a club head brush shaped like a ball. It’s something that will actually improve your game or the golfer you know anywhere and at any time.

Ultimately, it’s a punching bag for you to hit with your club to improve your swing speed, agility and accuracy. You can use it anywhere. Stuff it with clothes when you are on a business trip. Blankets from your house. Towels from your gym. Really easy and compact too.

Who is it for? The golfer that is in the “obsessed” stage. This stage never goes away from my observation and is therefore absolutely necessary for everyone. It is also perfect for the golfer on the go, who can’t always get to the driving range or doesn’t want to sit in traffic to get there.
Who is it not for? Someone who lives on a golf course or near a driving range or someone who doesn’t want to improve their swing speed from the luxury of their very own home.
Where to buy it? The Andux Golf Power Impact bag goes for PHP 1,388 and you can find it here.

THE SEXIEST GOLF GIFT: THE GARMIN VIVOACTIVE HR GPS SMARTWATCH WITH GOLF GPS

the-garmin-vivoactive-hr-gps-smartwatch-with-golf-gps

I’m not a fashion guru, but I do know that this thing looks good. For all of you that like looking good and having people compliment what you are wearing, then this is the item to buy for yourself (or your recipient of this gift). It looks good and it’s actually useful. It doesn’t just do the basics. It does everything all of your gadgets combined do.

Garmin has been the top of the GPS market for over the last decade. It has excelled in its accuracy for geographical pinpointing. What they did was basically create an all-in-one watch that has a GPS rangefinder, built-in sports apps (running, biking, swimming, etc), customizable interface, smart notifications for when you want to connect your phone to your watch and best of all, a battery life that lasts up to 8 days (when not constantly using the GPS).

This watch also boasts a database of over 40,000 courses and they built the touchscreen to be readable even in sunlight. This is absolutely necessary as so many smartwatches aren’t really built for using out on the course with direct sunlight and no shade anywhere except in your golf cart.

Who is it for? The golfer that cares about his or her accessories and wants the accessory to actually serve a purpose for wearing it!
Who is it not for? Since it is a bit pricey, I would say if you are on a budget, then you can get a basic range finder to start. Not necessary for pure beginners yet, although I think it may be useful in finding those stray balls.
Where to buy it? You can get the Vivoactive for PHP 15,291 at your nearest Garmin retailer or distributor. Please call first to find availability. To find out the nearest retailer, please visit: http://ph.garmin.com/buy/retailer/

THE GOLF GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING (BEST GAG GIFT): GOLF POTTY PUTTING GAME

golf-potty-putting-game

You probably already have an image in your head based on the title of what this gift might look like. In all seriousness though, to each his own and please don’t judge because I actually am a little partial to this gift. It’s very useful and very practical. Multi-tasking.

The average man spends over 1 Hour a week on the toilet. For some people it’s even longer. Some people choose to use this time to browse Facebook, answer emails or a read a book. Either way, most people do something. Why not improve your short game while doing something you are already doing.

Here’s how it works. Set up the green nicely against the base of your toilet bowl. Sit down. Grab the putter. Line up your shot and try to make it in the hole. Very simple. Very easy to use and it looks much better in a bachelor pad bathroom than your typical toilet seat cover set. This is one of the greatest gag golf gifts to give to the golfer in your life.

Who is this for? Everyone. We all go to the bathroom.
Who is this not for? Someone who entertains a lot of guests and doesn’t want too many questions being asked.
Where to buy it? You can find the Putt Potty set online for PHP 659 and can be found here.

The Potty Putter makes a great gift item for that special someone who doesn’t mind spending a little bit more time on their throne.

THE GOLFER-ON-THE-GO GIFT: SCOTLAND GOLF & WHISKY TOUR

whisky-tour

Alright, this probably really isn’t the type of gift that you can just throw onto your Christmas gift list. If I were you, I would probably be sitting trying to figure out how to include in the budget a ticket for myself even if I don’t golf! This is one of the most cool things a golfer can get to experience in his or her lifetime.

  • Go to Europe. Check.
  • Try unique Whiskys. Check.
  • Take a vacation. Check.
  • Do something that you can post on Facebook about that will make your friends jealous. Check.

Who is this for? The golfer who wants to do something different.
Who is this not for? Someone that doesn’t drink whisky and someone who doesn’t golf.
How do I buy it? Contact inquiries@golfpackages.ph and they can assist you with a quote. Please make sure to send all of the information that you know we will need. I.e. Dates, number of players, twin or single rooms. If you don’t know the dates, then just pick a month to get a gage on the price range.

We wanted to add one more item that we really love. It’s not really golf related, but it’s one of the hottest out there right now. I’m sure anyone would appreciate it

What is it?

VR BOX 3D VIRTUAL REALITY GLASSES

vr-box-3d-virtual-reality-glasses

I’m sure you have seen them in the mall. At your local Data Blitz or SM. There are tons of different models and all varying in price. When we saw this piece on the link below, we had to include it. It’s so affordable and is worth the gamble to test it out. If you find yourself trying to use it all the time, then you can always upgrade right?

It supports Android & IOS & PC, which is pretty cool. It can also be used with pretty much any type of gadget (phone, tablet, PC, MID, TVbox, gamepad, wireless mouse, etc.). There’s also a portable bluetooth selfie remote to use.

It’s seriously amazing how much can be wrapped up in this package.

Who is this for? The golfer who is into tech stuff, gadgets and watching movies.
Who is this not for? Someone that doesn’t have a smart phone, or gets dizzy really quick
How do I buy it? You can find the VR 3D Glasses online for only PHP 616 and can be found here.

The 2017 UP Open Golf Tournament

The days are getting longer and the temperatures are finally heating up, but although summer is just around the corner, there are still weeks (or months) of dreary afternoons in the forecast.

Just like the recently concluded 2017 UP Open Golf Tournament, the weather was gloomy but perfect for all the participants of the said event. Yet just because the weather’s gloomy, doesn’t mean you have to be.

The 2017 UP Open Golf Tournament teed off to a rousing success last Friday, February 17, 2017 at the Forest Hills Golf and Country Club in Antipolo City.  The tournament was spearheaded by the UP Golf Team in partnership with the Dream Life Church Foundation and Forest Hills Golf and Country Club.

Golfers from the UP alumni, family, friends, and special guests were treated to a challenging, yet fun round of play  on the Arnold Palmer course for the benefit of the Dream Life Church beneficiaries.  Up for grabs under the modified Stableford scoring system were trophies for the Ladies and Men’s divisions.  Special prizes for “fun holes” such as the “Longest Drive,” “Most Accurate Drive,” and “Nearest to the Pin” were also handed out.

A sumptuous buffet was served after the golf play followed by a program in which major and minor prizes were raffled off to the eager participants. The program also featured the UP Golf represented by John Molina, who called on the guests to support the team and its development program.

A special video on the Dream Life Church was played  and the children beneficiaries under the foundation entertained the audience with a heartwarming song and dance number after which they gave out handmade “thank you” cards to show their appreciation for those in attendance.

Visors off to the UP Golf Team, Inc., Dream Life Church Foundation and Forest Hills Golf and Country Club for a day well-spent golfing at a world-class course, bonding with friends and schoolmates, and sharing with the children as beneficiaries.
